“The underfunding of our national parks, from interpretation to capital maintenance and improvement, to sweetheart deals with concessionaires, has been a disgrace. These are national treasures and should be treated as such. My Interior Department will elevate the parks, treat them right, and work with Congress to secure appropriate funding and policy. I would also like to expand NPS’s program to protect the nation’s ecological heritage, especially in light of climate change threats.”
